Event description | The course is aimed at new SENCO's or SENCO's wishing to refresh their knowledge. The course will provide an in-depth focus on the key principles of inclusive SEND practice, as set out in the Early Years Foundation Stage (2021), SEND code of practice (2015) ) and the Equality Act (2010). You will learn about the graduated approach, the 4 broad areas of need, the importance of early intervention, the role of the SENCO in supporting other practitioners, creating effective parent partnerships, Kent SEND processes and working with other professional agencies outside of your setting. This virtual training course has been extended to provide a full-day equivalent course. The course will be delivered over two x 3 hour sessions. You will need to book and attend both sessions to receive a certificate. SENCO's that have already attended the Practical Guide for SENCOs may wish to attend this full day training as new content has been included. The course contains learning resource materials that can be downloaded in advance of the training, they will be used in conjunction with topics being discussed. You should also have your Best Practice Guidance document available. This course is funded by Kent County Council for delegates from Kent-based PVI settings, including childminders, Only one practitioner per setting can attend each course. This session will run as an interactive Zoom session. Delegates will be sent the link no later than 24 hours before the start date. Please ensure you are able to access Zoom at least 1 hour prior to the session. Please note that these are not recorded and therefore not available to watch at a later date and delegates need to attend as a live session.
