Event description Early identification of a possible delay in a child’s progress is an essential part of the role of an Early Years practitioner. This workshop will enable you to respond to concerns about a child’s progress and implement appropriate early intervention and support for children where progress is less than expected. 
Training objectives • work effectively with parents/carers to gather information about a child’s learning and development

• use the graduated approach effectively to support identification of SEN and provide appropriate interventions

• gather appropriate evidence about a child’s learning and reflect upon the definition for SEND with reference to the broad areas of need

• use documented evidence to begin to distinguish between developmental delay and SEN and identify children’s needs appropriately
